The Troll Cave

July 15, 2008

We all love satirical humor, and it gives us a nice laugh every once in a while.

However, what’s not fun is to take the humor seriously, and … promote it as real facts. Can it get any dumber? I don’t know. Just like Linux Hater (point 3), I was confused about the website myself, ’till I saw it was being actively promoted. So yes, it’s humor, but while we’re all laughing, there’s a twist.

So, I present to you, the Troll Cave: a collection of snapshots taken as the footprints of the dumbest (or smartest, depends how you look at it) trolls about:

Although in its FAQ part, promotinglinux site pretends that it is a joke; I strongly disbelieve their claims. It is obvious that they are intentionally and persistently misinforming users about Open Source in general and Linux in particular. IMO, this is not a joke anymore!

The question that I ask is, why are they doing this? Does getting attention give them the thrill? Is someone hiring them to do this?…

promotinglinux.com runs on CentOS. Yes that is a Linux distro. I suppose that’s part of the joke. Shame your average Joe sixpack won’t be able to find this out though.

    Funny.

I asked where I could get some of those 100,000 Linux machines that Dell could not even “give away to some poor country” as I will never use more than 126,

Linux will never give me the problems she mentions.

    peace,
    Yok
